Aurélien Cuvelier builds NuanceDeck: the app, and the verification pipeline behind its dictionary. Every entry is grounded in the official TORFL lexical minimum and a 20,000-word frequency corpus, and every example sentence passes a certification review before it ships.
NuanceDeck is built by one person: the app, the review scheduler, and the content pipeline that produces and verifies the dictionary. Articles on this site carry that byline because he wrote or reviewed them, not as decoration.
The honest version of the expertise story: this is not a linguistics department. It is an engineering approach to a language-data problem, with sources and checks chosen so that being wrong is hard.
How the dictionary is verified
Every card and every example sentence on this site and in the app goes through the same pipeline.

Grounded vocabulary
The word list is drawn from the official TORFL lexical minimum (the levels A1 to C1 used by the Russian state certification) and a 20,000-word frequency corpus, so levels and priorities come from sources, never from guesses.

Generate, verify, fix
Example sentences and glosses are drafted, then judged against explicit quality gates: the headword must be recoverable from the sentence alone, supporting words must fit the learner's level, stress marks must match the dictionary reading.

Certification before shipping
A sentence only reaches the app after passing review; certified cards are marked, and a sentence edited after certification loses its mark until it passes again. 7,500+ words are live today, with English and French glosses authored per language.

Real audio, real forms
Headwords and example sentences carry recorded audio, and every declension and conjugation table is generated from dictionary data with the stressed vowel marked on each form.
