Russian keyboard

Type in Russian without installing a keyboard. Click the keys, or type in Latin letters and watch them turn into Cyrillic as you go.

Latin letters turn Russian as you type, two of them making one letter where needed: sh ш · ch ч · zh ж · kh х · shch щ · ya я · yu ю · yo ё · y ы · j й · x кс · ' ь · '' ъ · e' э. A y after a vowel is й: chay is чай.

Letters your keyboard may lack

ё is a letter of its own

Printed texts often write е instead, but ё is always said yo and always stressed: ещё, всё, ёлка.

The soft and hard signs

ь softens the consonant before it: брат, брать. ъ is rare, mostly after a prefix: объявление.

Stress marks

Everyday Russian text never shows the stress, but teachers and textbooks mark it over the vowel: замок is a castle, замок is a lock. To mark one here, put the cursor right after the stressed vowel and press а́.

You know the letters. Now learn the words.

NuanceDeck teaches Russian words in real sentences, with their cases and their stress.
