The basic colors in Russian: красный (red), оранжевый (orange), жёлтый (yellow), зелёный (green), голубой (light blue), синий (dark blue), and the rest below. Yes, blue is two separate colors in Russian; there is no single word that covers both.

Colors are ordinary adjectives, so they agree with their noun in gender, number and case: красный дом, красная машина, красное яблоко, красные глаза. Learn one color and you have learned its whole family of endings.
The famous part: Russian splits blue into голубой (light, sky blue) and синий (dark, navy blue), and treats them as two basic colors the way English treats red and pink. Russians literally never say just blue; the language forces the choice, and studies show Russian speakers distinguish the two shades measurably faster.
A cultural footnote: красный (red) shares its root with красивый (beautiful). Red Square is literally the beautiful square; the color came later.
