Days of the week in Russian
The days of the week in Russian, Monday first: понедельник, вторник, среда, четверг, пятница, суббота, воскресенье. They are never capitalized, and saying on Monday takes в plus the accusative: в понедельник.

The Russian week starts on Monday, and the names carry their logic openly: вторник is the second day (второй), среда the middle one, четверг the fourth, пятница the fifth. Понедельник is the day after неделя, which once meant the do-nothing day before it became the word for week.
On Monday, on Friday is в plus the accusative: в понедельник, в пятницу. One famous trap hides here: среда is stressed on the ending, but in в среду the stress jumps back to the stem. The chart above shows every on-form so none of them surprises you.
Days are written lowercase in Russian, like months. Capitalizing them is a small but instant English-speaker signature.
