Congratulations in Russian

Congratulations in Russian is поздравляю! (pozdravlyayu), literally I congratulate. The occasion attaches with с plus the instrumental, the same machine as every Russian holiday greeting: поздравляю с днём рождения.

How to use it

Name the occasion with с + instrumental: с окончанием университета (on graduating), с новосельем (on the new home), с победой (on the win). Drop the verb entirely and the greeting still works: С победой!

Молодец is the everyday well-done for a person rather than an occasion, and it agrees in number: молодец to one, молодцы to a team. Warm from a peer, slightly teacherly from a boss.
