Happy birthday in Russian is с днём рождения (s dnyom rozhdeniya), literally with the day of birth: the verb I congratulate you is politely left unsaid.

How to use it
The pattern с + instrumental congratulates on anything: с Новым годом (Happy New Year), с приездом (welcome back, on your arrival). Learn the birthday phrase and you own the whole congratulation machine.
Wishes follow with желаю + genitive: желаю счастья и здоровья (I wish you happiness and health). A Russian birthday message is typically the congratulation plus a chain of these genitive wishes.
